About Me
I inherited the artistic gene from my mom and her side of the family. I have been drawing, painting, stitching and creating for as long as I can remember. I spent a lot of my childhood and teen years designing and building miniature houses, drawing floor plans and even designing an entire town!
I remember learning needlepoint when I was 5 years old on a cross-country family trip back in the 60's and still enjoy doing needlework. As a kid I made wax candles on the stove, did Doodle Art, paint-by-numbers and everything else that was popular back in the 70's.
In high school, the main art class offered was drawing. I didn't like it much because I was limited to drawing what the instructor wanted. That didn't inspire anything in me.
After my college years, I began taking stained glass classes and fell in love with it. I finally had the freedom to create my own designs, choose my own colors and add all the details I love. As life continued on and got busier with my husband and I designing and building our own home, taking care of five acres, cats, a bunch of chickens and working full-time, I managed to stay creative but on a much smaller scale. Fast forward several years and I suddenly discovered gourds. Growing, woodburning, painting and carving them. Gourds are my absolute passion that continues to this day.
After another decade of creating beautiful gourds, I started thinking about retiring from my full-time job. With retirement about 3 years in the future, I knew I could stay busy with gourds but wanted even more. I began looking through all the craft supplies I had collected over the decades that had been put on the back burner while working. I came across old polymer clay from 1999 (that was still good!), resin supplies, wood cut-outs, beads and earring hardware. I decided resurrecting all of these items would be a good start, heading into my final working years. These would just be things to occupy my time in between working on gourds.
But then near the end of 2024, the possibility of a job promotion came up at work. Everyone told me I should go for it. It would be a big chunk of extra money. But it didn't feel right. Money isn't everything. And, that big chunk of money would end when I retire. It occurred to me that if I create a business with all my creative ideas, and it is successful, that money will continue on well after retirement.
So it began. I listed every possible crafty idea I had. I brainstormed for a couple weeks to come up with a business name. I put together a plan. I created a website. I bought a few basic supplies and started experimenting.
Now I spend all my free time working on gourds, polymer clay, mosaics, and resin. I let my passion guide me. I am never more happy than when I am creating a beautiful work of art.
I sell my creations because everyone needs a little extra happiness in their life.
